The CfL Leadership Academy – Leading Myself and Others is a powerful online leadership programme designed to help you develop self-awareness, confidence, and the practical skills needed to lead both yourself and others effectively.
For over a decade, this programme has been successfully delivered in person to individuals, organisations, schools, and sports teams across five continents. Now, the same proven leadership model is available online, allowing you to learn at your own pace, from anywhere in the world.
The course is supported by Floyd Woodrow’s book “The Warrior, The Strategist and You”.
This course is designed to be accessible to everyone, with no upper age limit and participants as young as four years old engaging with the principles.

Course Overview
The CfL Leadership Academy – Leading Myself and Others course empowers young people, developing leaders, and individuals who want a practical, proven framework to improve how they lead themselves and others.
The course is divided into 3 modules:
Module 1: The Fundamentals of Compass for Life
Module 2: Leading Myself
Module 3: Leading Others
The Compass for Life interactive videos, self-study activities and map provide the toolkit to support any leadership journey, regardless of the starting point.

MODULE 1: THE FUNDAMENTALS OF COMPASS FOR LIFE
Chapter 1 – Introduction to the course
The fundamental principles and language that will be used throughout the course. This is the start point of your journey.
Chapter 2 – My guiding ‘Super North’ star
Identifying your big goals, dreams and aspirations. You have to reach for the stars!
Chapter 3 – My Strategy
Set clear milestones to help break your journey down into manageable chunks. Identifying the individuals on your team.
Chapter 4 – My Ethos
Thinking about the values that matter to you and whether you consistently demonstrate these.
Chapter 5 – My Warrior Spirit
Identifying the physical and mental strategies you need to be successful.
MODULE 2: LEADING MYSELF
Chapter 1 – My guiding ‘Super North Star’
A deeper dive into your SNS (big dreams, goals and ambitions). Thinking about your purpose for being (utilising the Japanese concept of Ikigai).
Chapter 2 – My Strategy
Adaptive leadership strategies. Learning/reflecting on the many models and tools available to help in becoming a better strategist. Covering critical thinking, the 5Ws, SMART goals, GROW, contingency planning, FLOW, De Bono’s, SWOT and the communication stairway.
Chapter 3 – My Ethos
Considering the influences on your personal ethos, exploring your role models, your values over time, developing your personal statement of intent and communicating your values with others.
Chapter 4 – My Warrior Spirit
A deeper look at yourself as a ‘warrior’, the physiological response to stress (fight, flight, freeze), positive self-coaching, anchoring and how to step out of your comfort zone and into the pressure zone.
Chapter 5 – Getting started on your journey
Evaluating the tools you have in your backpack and how you can utilise these. Moving from a sense of failure to success whilst taking accountability for your personal progress. Knowing how to recalibrate your compass at the relevant points on your journey. Evolution of your map over time.
MODULE 3: LEADING OTHERS
Chapter 1 – My guiding ‘Super North Star’
What does leadership mean and how does this relate to good and bad leaders? How do you clearly define your legacy and what does this look like.
Chapter 2 – My Strategy
Considering your team and what happens when you are not communicating well. Implementation of the strategic models (SMART, SWOT, 5Ws and 1H) with your team. Thinking creatively to solve problems.
Chapter 3 – My Ethos
What are your team values. How do your use T.E.A.M. (trust, empowerment, accountability, and motivation)? Your team culture – challenge vs. support.
Chapter 4 – My Warrior Spirit
The highest form of leadership, moving from good to elite performance. Communication to enhance your team – what happens when we give great feedback?
Chapter 5 – Getting started on your journey
Our toolkit, our team – what do we collectively have in our backpack? Are we aware of the magnets that can take us off course? Ensuring the team compass is aligned including success culture and legacy. How is your team going to evolve over time?
