Dr Rob Kennett served with Kent Police from 1978 in a variety of challenging operational and specialist roles progressing to the rank of Chief Inspector, increasingly specialising in Hostage, Crisis and Kidnap Negotiation. He was seconded to the Hostage and Crisis Negotiation Unit (HCNU), Metropolitan Police, New Scotland Yard, London in 2008 and served as the Unit Deputy Head.
He retired from the Police in May 2009. He continues to work as a civilian within Law Enforcement providing Negotiation Training both in the UK and internationally.
He was appointed a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List 2009 for his Services to Policing.
He was awarded a Doctorate in Education from Hull University in 2009.
